刘秀荣，1935年生于北京，祖籍浙江绍兴。1949年投身革命，曾参加开国大典游行。1950年转入文化部戏曲改进局戏曲实验学校继续修业。1951年参加戏曲实验学校为抗美援朝捐献飞机义演，先后两次赴朝鲜慰问中国人民志愿军和朝鲜人民军。1956年毕业后分配至中国戏曲学校实验京剧团，1965年调至北京京剧团，改革开放后调至中国京剧院。
